Constant Warning Buzzer - 496 HO
I have been ready a few other people have had issue here with the warnig buzzer. It seem all the past problems list here the case was there were two short beeps. Im getting a consistant beep no breaks just always on. It come on after about a half hour run - its a 2001 496 Ho and have never had this issue before.
Any idea on what the cuase may be ? The temp, drive oil and oil presure all look righ on. Also I am getting god water out of the pipe so Im fairly sure the impellar and water pump havent died. Any ideas would be aprechited as there is a 3-4 week wait if I have to go to my local dealer. |
Check your drive oil level??
Had this happen on a 26 Wellcraft cruiser. 5.7. And then again last year at the Cumberland Poker Run in 35' Fountain. 496 Mag. |
you mean at the drive itself ?
I checked the resivor up top and that is right on. Does anyone know or know where to find out what the consistant buzz is , im guessing they have to indicate something if the other ones are series of beeps. |
back by your drive oil resevoir bottle you'll find a connector with a clear plastic cover. pull apart that connection and see if the buzz goes away...
|
If it does and its full you think Im fairly safe leaving it that way ?
|
Yeah, at the reservoir.
I think DPT is probably right about the sensor if the level is OK. |
When it happened in the Fountain, we had run the first half of the run, stopped to top off the fuel before lunch, and the alarm started going off as soon as we fired back up.
Might need to check the level when it's hot. Filled it up, and finished the rest of the run.:D |
You may have a bad manifold temp sensor, or seawater pressure sender.. ;) Jamie / Lakeside

Ok so Im not as cleaver as I wish I was. It was the out drive fluid. It was close to empy just below the sensor on the resivor bottle. I had checked it before I took off that day and never looked after words.
I hoping it was an air pock since i had the fluid changed in the fall and this was the first good run of the year. Is that some what normal to go down ? |
;)
I'd keep a close eye on it whenever you're out for a little while at least. Might save you from a very expensive rebuild - if it's actually a problem, and you can catch it soon enough. |
