How to remove outdrive
The outdrive is stuck in forward gear (Cone clutch frozen). How do I remove the drive considering that I need to disconnect the shift cable from the drive. That is hard to do with the drive in forward gear. Do I need to tear the upper down?

what kind of drive?

If its a Bravo it should not make a difference. Mine was stuck in REVERSE and came off just like normal.
At least if you are stuck in forward you could put it on the trailer:eek: |
alpha wouldnt either , i'm pretty sure

It is a Bravo. The problem is that when it is stuck in forward, the end of the shift cable is buried deep in the hole on the drive and the jaws that clutches the shift cable end can not open. How do I release the jaws mechanism given that the cone clutch is frozen?

You will have to take off the back cover and release part # 14 from 13 in the attached picture.

Remove the bolt from the linkage, like Vinny says and it will rotate and let you remove it. It is an allen head bolt and will be covered with grease.. Or remove the upper one in the shift fork. Either will let the shift rod swivel and allow you to remove that drive. When you get it off.. just ship it to me and I can fix it.. Just kidding, that would be a trip!!
Time for me to get to bed.. must be in FL by noon tomorrow.. :) :) |
