Oil Filter for 700 Sci

Time to change the oil, dont want to pay 57.00 for a Mercury marine oil filter. Tried crossing the Mercury part # with Wix, Fram, and Amsoil. Looks like a HP-6 Fram. What oil filter will replace it?

CIG3 06-11-2007 03:28 PM

NAPA 1069R. Much better than Fram.....

Bajapred 06-11-2007 03:47 PM

Wix or Purlater or Merc HP oil filter..should only cost you about $11.. merc part# 35-16595Q is $11.55 list...they are all the same

For real??????????

(j/k- have to pull your leg some how since all your toys are better than mine- did you hear I won 2nd in the poker run this past weekend- 2nd win in 4 years for me!!)

You dont keep buying new boats for long if you pay $57.00 for $9.00 oil filters. Mercury has gotten enough of my money. How many boats ran Tims run? Your a lucky S.O.B., you will need that money to buy 2 Stroke oil.:D :D

I bet its a reg size, this is the big one

Bajapred 06-11-2007 10:50 PM

The EU662 , HP700SCI, HP850SCI all use that expensive filter..not sure what the deal is..it may have something to do with the dry sump oil lube system they all use...but that is one VERY expensive oil filter!

So what is everyone using in place of the Merc. Racing filter, P/N:35-840634K01? I need to either order (2) of these BIG $$ filters or use a good alternative?
Thanks,
Dean

Dean Ferry 06-22-2011 08:06 AM

Is the WIX P/N: 51222R a good alternative to the Merc Filter?
Thanks,
Dean

Not sure what is considered bad taste on this site, so if this post is against forum rules please accept my apologies and delete this post. Just trying to help those out who want to run this mercury racing filter and make a few bucks myself. I will be adding several other Mercury parts over the next week or so.

Thanks for looking!

Those are good prices. I'm always looking for better prices on WIX. I got that original price from my easiest source. I never checked with my one WIX supplier that I normally use. I'll have to check those out though!
Thanks!

Advanced Performance Oil Filters use a media (T-10) that is rated at a Frazier air flow of approximately 267 CFM and is wire-backed. The unique wire-backing provides a very stable base for a media blend of fiberglass, polyester and cellulose. This media is resistant to high temperatures and water levels in the oil that can plug standard media types. Our Advanced Performance media (T-10) is designed to provide a high positive oil flow with low restriction.
High Efficiency Endurance Oil Filters use a media (T-71) rated at a Fraizer air flow of approximately 75 CFM. This media contains a higher resin content than our Advanced Performance Filters to trap and hold smaller contaminant's and provide higher efficiency.

51222r.......T71 filter media
57003r.......T10 filter media
Everything else is the same. Except the price.
