525 sc r.p.m's

Hello Guys,Ive got a pair of 525 SC's in my 36 outlaw with only 210 hrs on the boat and motors. My stbd engine idles about 1500 r.p.m's when i shift it out of gear to just idle and stayes that way till i shut the engine down and let it sit for about 5 to 10 minutes.Ive checked the throttle linkage and it all looks good,Not binding or sticking.Any suggestions??

has it been sitting for awile? when you start back up, what is it at? is it injected or natural? dominators can clog an air bleed and do this, has anyone adj. the air screws? hows the float level???

It will go back to around 1000 at idle after setting for about 5 minutes.Boat has been running and idling fine till last week.Haven't done any adjusting on the air mixtures on the carb.Whats the best way to do that? Thanks for the advice.

525SC's should idle very easily at 850rpms in nuetral and about 700 in gear.

I would check the timing first to make sure its not a module that is sticking in advance mode. Base timing at idle should be 13* below a 1000rpms. If I remember right, it should be about 17* at 1500rpms.
If timing is ok, then check for a vacuum leak. It could be some place on the carb, carb to the blower or blower to intake. Also, check the PCV. It very much sounds like you have a vacuum leak. It could be an internal vacuum leak in the carb also due to a deteriorating gasket.
