Captain's Call Exhaust Options and Headers
Hi, I'm new to the forums. I just purchased a Cobalt 263 with a 496 Mag here in Oz. It currently has a standard exhaust system but I'm after a bit more noise and performance. Just wondering why everyone down here puts side exit thru hull exhaust on their boats. I would have thought the rear exit would flow better. If anyone could recommend the right products and any probems associated, that would be greatly appreciated. I was thinking of the Dana Marine Exhaust Manifold kit and Corsa rear exit diverter. Also can anyone suggest which shop over there might be able to supply me with both these products.

I als ohave the 263, and have been told by Cobalt Inc. that there's not enough room for "out the back" exhausts on the 262/263..

Cobalt ships the 262/263 with Corsa Captain's call. Plenty of room for the through hulls right out the back near the top of the transom assembly. The internal pipe's have to make a sharp turn inwards, but doable.
Contact Cobalt, I'm sure they can set you up with the part #s or a contact at Corsa contact to get it done. |
If you want to improve the system further, contact me. I have made an automated activation kit which allows you to run the exhaust in 3 modes, all from a dash switch while running:
1. Exhaust closed - thru prop constant 2. Exhaust open - thru hull constant 3. Auto - exhaust closed at low RPM, activates valves to open at a set RPM which you can change, for example, open above 3500RPM, and will self close below 3500RPM. I have this on my 17' Formula which I transplanted a 4.3L V6 with a built 5.7L V8. It did not have thru-hull, but does now, and kept thru-prop also. The system is trick, and works perfect. Auto mode is super cool. Works with tip mufflers also. I even adapted the newer oval-down Bravo valves to my older Alpha round wye pipe. PM me if anybody interested, I usually don't follow posts. |
