1996 502 mpi water&oil temps

Can anyone tell me what water and oil temps they are running with this motor. At 3500 rpms I am running 177 water and 250 oil temp. Water temp sensor is in the thermostat housing and the oil sensor is in the pan. What is too hot forthe oil temp?

Thanks for help

Sounds pretty good, oil temp might be a little high indicating some scaling in the oil cooler but water temp near 180 will allow oil to come a little higher than if you run 140 water temp(but you should run the 160 thermostats in an MPI).

Is it true that Merc recommends water temp should = raw water temp + 100 degrees?
