Over heating problems on a step hull boat
I have a 33 foot Donzi ZX with twin 502's. I am having an over heating problem with the port side motor motor. It will stay at temp at idle but over it heats shortly after putting a load on the engine(soon after getting on plane). It appears that I am getting good water circulation through my exhaust by observation at the dock at idle.
I have replaced the thermostat, sea pump and the local shop blew out the lines. At this point the shop believes that the problem is where the water comes into the boat from the outside bell housing(aka the hose barb on the transom assembly). At this point shop is recommending putting an external water pickup at the bottom of the boat to bypass this. My question are: 1)Given that this a step hull boat, will an external water pick up be effective in pulling in water? 2) Will this cause any drive over heating issues? 3) Is there anything else that could be causing my over heating? I really appreciate anyone's help or advice. Feel free to email me with any ideas Sincerely Jeff Deem Woodbridge Virgina [email protected] |
Check some of the other posts on this subject ,it was talked about in all forms alot the past week or two. I had this problem and after much research and thought elected to repair the stock set up.
