Recurculating water pump or bypass...
This has probably been debated before but Help, I cant make a decision on should I strip off the old water pumps or not...opinions of pros and cons. The only things I think of is less hardware if you go bypass.....if you use bypass you wouldn't be able to use closed cooling unless you put the pump back on.... but what about performance..how things last.

This has been talked about alot on here search for it in the thread search and you will get all the info you need.

You need to tell us what engines you have.
If you have efi, don't do it. If carb, the crossover does clean up the front of the engine some. I would still run a thermostat though. 10-15HP gains without the circ pump. |
The engines are carbed 454's. I just replaced one of the pumps last night so I got to thinking I should clean things up and get rid of the pumps.... turned out a 1970 Corvett pump matches the one I took off. It sits closer to the block.

thanks for the replies....for what I got if you cant see its 70% get rid of the pumps.....

Biggest concen so far has been to much water pressure and quite a few people have run dump valves. I run crossovers on 500HPs and have merc dump valves and water pressure guages |
