Hydraulic Steering, single or double ram???????

Looking at purchasing an older 24 foot boat with 500 - 550 HP. Boat has a TRS with a Borg tranny. I would like hyrdraulic steering. Should I look at single or double ram for this application. also what should I expect to spend for a system to the helm. Also, there is play in the gimble. Should this be fixed before switching to the hydraulic or is a mute point once I switch.

thanks

Dual Ram. As was expained to me a cylinder is better at pushng then at pulling. So with Dual rams 1 is always pushing & 1 is always pulling. Dual ram will also help with the stress at the gimble.

Go with double ram replace gimble while your at it.
