Trim tabs....Electric VS Hydro's
My trim tabs are cracking apart so im in the market to buy a new system. The ones I have now are wolverine marine hydro's and the pumps etc are fine. I have driven boats with the electric lenco style tabs and I liked the clean look of the switches lenco has and they seemed to do the job well. Would it be a good idea to switch over to electric style tabs or stick with my hydrolic system? What are the pro's VS con's? I would assume I could shave off a little weight and save some space with the electric system but I want to be sure they work as good as the hydro's. Any suggestions on brands/kits I should look into? (Im more of a function over form guy so doesnt need to be all bling bling) Boat is a 32 huslter and I would like to squeeze every last MPH out of it while keeping the ability to plane at low speed.
Thanks Nick |
I wouldnt change to electric. Hydro are status quo.

Thanks for the input guys but I was looking for something on the lines of actual information on the subject. Anyone? Im sure this topic has come up before...Even a link to an informative thread would be great!

I would suggest sticking with the system you have and replacing / upgrading the parts that are broken.
I had custom tabs made to fit my Bennet actuators when my Bennett tabs started to bend. I have to give props to Bennett customer service... every time I've tried to order a small part, they've just sent it to me free of charge, and i'm using their actuators way beyond their design intent. |
If you run your boat hard you'll blow the light duty stuff to pieces.
K planes are the way to go. Jim |
Who sells good Hydro K-planes without the pumps?
|
You can get K planes from any merc dealer shop around 280 s are the most common. kit comes with everything less dash switches and indicators . You cannot mix and match pumps with other brands.
