overheating small block

my friend has a 87 checkmate 350 with trickflow heads.wiped out a camshaft and changed cam.now it overheats within 2-3 min of running 190-200 degrees.has new water pumps, pulled intake to check gaskets no problems, pulled t-stat out still heats up quick.could the manifolds/risers be a issue?seems like some sort of blockage somewhere

Probably a bad water pump impeller in the drive....

You can check by starting her up on the muffs and pulling the incoming water hose to see what's coming through. Even at idle it should gush water. If not, then you've got a bad impeller or something else happening between the engine's water inlet and the drive.

Hope this helps.

Did you check the 3/4" id hose that is behind the bellhousing? Those are known to collapse
