hard pull to the left
OK, I took the boat I am buying out on a test run this morning and when getting into the throttles it pulls real hard to the left once I got it over 3000-3500 rpm's. Does anyone know what would cause this and how to fix it? The boat is a 28' Century Ultra II w/ twin 454's and bravo 1 drives. Both drives are standard rotation also. Thanks in advance.

Could be as simple as the skeg after the prop turned the wrong way?

On some boats they have a fin that hangs off the zinc anode. If it is turned wrong then it can cause steering issues at speed.

What do you mean " standard rotation" ?????????
They are both spinning right????? If they are then its gonna do that. One should spin RH and one LH. |

Yes, I mean both spinning right by stardard rotation. And the fin and zinc anode are gone off both drives. Do you think putting some back on with the fins would help? Thanks everyone.

I had one back couple years spinning same direction and let me tell ya... it just never pulled like that, not on the right, not on left either... not even when backing off throttle... my thought is this... you probably have either a play in the sterring system, or most probably, the shaft on the top of the gimball ring are worn. I had boats doing this because of this pin. they are pretty expensive to change, aroung 700-800$ each shaft plus labor if I recall right. but it does what you says, and specially backing off the throttle. have someone look at the transom plate inside the boat, (he could even hold the steering shaft) while you are outside the boat, then move the drives from left to right. if as soon you move the drive, and on the inside it makes everything move at the same time (steering cable) problem is more up front, but if you move them lets say an inch or 2 from left to right, and the shaft steering shaft on the inside does not really move, then it is probably the gimball ring shaft...
