Changing Bravo Drive

Doing my first drive change here soon. Looks like a reasonably easy task. What should I change while I'm at it? Gaskets, belows, etc. Belows appear to be in good shape, but is it worth reusing?

thanks

Steering system if equiped and 6 bolts....it's that easy. Just watch the shift mechanism as the drive starts to slide out....pull straight back and don't let the u-joint/input shaft swing down and hit your fingers.

BTW (it's heavy, 150-200lbs.)

Helpful to have an extra set of hands and someone with a strong back especially when re installing. maybe find a friend who's done it before & buy him a case of beer to help.

Are they really that heavy 150LBs!? I might weigh mine it never seemed that heavy. As far as gaskets they sell an inexpensive kit. (mainly O-rings) I would replace them. Main thing is to be ready for it and have a place to put the drive once it is off. Watch for the drive shaft because it will fall after it is clear of the helmet. If you do not want to scratch the drive I would get another set of hands or drop the trim cylinders off the drive and the transom. If you feel the need to switch out some bellows I will gladly let you do mine I hear they are a PIA.

I used an old Hoosier race tire and board to rest it on as I reposition my hands carry it the bench.

By the way we are almost neighbors.

make sure you check-out the seawater hose that is in the gimble/transom assembly.sometime it unriveles from the inside and can hamper the water flow.
