I need scan tool for 496 HO
I broke a valve spring while docking the boat at idle, I replaced all valve springs and added a pair of lightning headers while I was at it, but now I get two beeps while at idle. Now the question , did the valve spring trigger the alarm or it possible that the headers are causing some kind of water
tempeture or presure problem. The port side risers run @20/35 degrees hoter . I need to buy a scan tool I'm trying to make Havasu this weekend. |
just ordered scan tool ($$$$$) I hope to get it tomorrow. I almost think it's my IAC because when I rev up slighthly I get a faint drop in rpm then it picks up. It problably has nothing to do with valve breaking or new headers.

Do your headers have a temp sensor? if you disconnected the original manifold temp sensors and did not reconnect to anything, that would cause an alarm. I guess Im'm a little late, but I just listed a DDT type scan tool on ebay.

Im thinking manifold temp & waterflow (balancing) issues thru the new headers... This has happened a lot latley on the 496's... :) Jamie / Lakeside

. I also believe it could be my water hose presure. Ihave a well with a pump presure fluctuation of 40 to 20 lbs. So it may be that at its lowest it triggers low water preasure (if it is equipped with) sensor. |
got the scanner and the only code that it had was ECT temp hi. It turrned out to be that a pin on the coolant temp sesor had been pushed out during the install and thus causing alarm to sound off.
