fram hp6A oil filter

changing my oil , and my local distibuter cant get hp6 filters anymore.. so i got the hp6A filters. i understand the hp6A filters have a bypass valve and the hp6 filters do not. is it safe to use the filter magnets on the hp6A filters ? is the hp6A a better filter ? i feel a litle leary about using a filter with a bypass.

I am using a Napa 51222R which is a wix equivalent to the HP6. It does have a bypass....but it only opens if the filter becomes clogged. This also keeps the filter from exploding. If you use a non bypass filter, you need a bypass somewhere in the system. Some stock adapters have a bypass that were designed around 40 to 60 psi. If you start making serious pressure in a performance application, you may bypass your filter. I would assume since you have an HP6, that you are not running a stock adapter.:D :D

WIX

Advanced Performance Oil Filters use a media (T-10) that is rated at a Frazier Air Flow of approximately 267 CFM and is wire backed. The unique wire backing provides a very stable base for a media blend of fiberglass, polyester and cellulose. This media is resistant to high temperatures and water levels in the oil that can plug standard media types. Advanced Performance Media (T-10) is designed to provide a high positive oil flow with low restriction.

These are the Wix recommended oil filters for maximum horsepower increase, to be used primarily on concrete or asphalt tracks.

Part no's are 51268R, 57003R, 57004R, 57007R and 57008R. All are required to be mounted on remote filter bases.

I run the 57003R...it has a bypass

i just removed my stock adapter and installed a billet adapter with no by pass in it. so like you said im better using the filter with the bypass. unfortonetly my oil temp still reaches 260 . i was wondering if the filter magnets will cause the bypass in the filter to disfunction. im thinking of taking the magnets off. im running dart 580ci 635 hp. and im going crazy trying to get my oil temp down. thanks guys for your knolegable filter choises.
