You did not mention if you have an oil thermostat. If you don't, you should get one.
First, run from the outlet of the block adapter to the filter. Next, run from the filter to the bottom of the cooler. Then run from the top of the cooler back to the inlet of the block adapter. You want to run to the filter before the cooler in case you ever have an engine failure, so you won't put a bunch of metal in the cooler. If that happens, you will never be able to get it clean. Also, run the oil through the cooler from the bottom up to avoid any air in the cooler.
For the thermostat, you can use one like Hardin has, which is a thermostat and filter mount in one. They also sell a remote mount thermostat that can be added in line between the filter and the cooler. Hope this helps, Eddie.
