Well..... I ran the snot out of my boat this weekend and did not have a single problem. The "cutting-out" is gone. The tach does not flicker.
Here`s what I did before sea-trial : Replaced kill switch / lanyard with NEW one. Tightened and cleaned all ground cable / wire connections. Cleaned battery cable connections. Inspected all wires going to dash and related components. I found a loose ground wire at tach (for lights). I also found a "suspect" hot wire at ignition switch - I cleaned and tightened it. I may have knocked it loose while I was messing around with the other wires .... ? Unfortunately, I`m not sure what fixed this problem. I am leaning towards the kill switch. It was the original (15 yrs old) and didn`t look very good. |
