yea....it looks like they drive indicators are clamped to the tiebar rather than the drive. ? WTF ?

It's an adaptation of the drive indicators on the tie bar that lets you know which way the drives are pointing and how much toe in or toe out the drives have. The Bud Select and Callen boats will be using the exact same setup at the shoot out this weekend for optimal straight line speed.

As far as the motors being rich, I'm guessing maybe he has silent choice and that's why it is below the water line.

I think it might be from oil and too much blowby, When I melted a piston on my 502's the exhaust looked liked that On my transom so that's my guess. I can't believe a motor would run that rich and not foul the plugs out.

Do you have the old carbs to put on and see if it changes, if you got the carbs on E bay who knows what they did to the carbs before you got them.

bet a dollar those fan looking spray marks are from a leak in your hydraulic steering.. if it was too rich, you'd have a black LINE around the hull (waterline).. this looks likeits spraying the transom each time you force the wheel to full lock.

Looks like it could also have been rolled on. Doh.

I can't make out anything with those pics, but it looks different than black soot from rich carb's.

Soot is dry to the touch but will get your fingers dirty instantly.

If it feels greasy/oily then prob soething else.

Stick your had/fingers up the tailpipes and see if same stuff is in there.

See If These Are Better

The Indacators Are Tied Up..lost Pieces Between Ram And Indicator. No Hyd Fluid Lost Either
I Will Try Old Carbs This Weekend And Check Plugs
I Checked To See If There Was A Vacum Leak Today No Change When I Sprayed Around Carb

ONE LOOKED LIGHT CHOCOLATE (OK) THEN I CONTINUED DOWN LAKE AND OPEN THROTTLE BALLS TO WALL AND ONE WAS STILL LEAN AND ONE WAS CHOCOLATE ONLY COULD GET ABOUT 4700 RPM OUT OF IT. TRIMED ALL OUT. WHEN I GOT STOPPEDIT WAS OILY
AND STARTED LOOKING ON BACK OF BOAT NOTICE THAT IN 1 PIPE IT WAS OIL LIKE SLUDGE GUESS I WILL BE PULLING THAT ENGINE AFTER SEAR PISTON SON
THINK ITS A BROKEN RING OR PISTON
