can you run S/M EXHAUST on a blower

A friend picked up a new motor which has a 1071 and intercooler makes 900hp he has his old exhaust which is stainless marine manifolds short ones that have a home made s/s sleave that runs just before the transom its 3'' around and has the reg 4''rubber hose that the water runs through outside the s/s. I am worried that the 3''exhaust will get every hot and melt the rubber plus with the blower sucking in more than you can get out will that cause a exh valves to heat up and burn???? I think this is just temp and over the winter he will get new 4 or 5'' pipes or new headers. art

Well, I'm sure someone CAN run about anything on that set up. But... I have never seen a 900HP motor that runs an exhaust "manifold" instead of headers. I'm sure that he is leaving a LOT of HP on the table by doing so. Blower motors need to breath on the exhaust side. It really is one of those areas, where bigger is better. No need for back pressure.

actually, the SM Gen IIIs make more power and torque on my 1000 hp blower motors than my old Stellings headers......do not have the leak problems either.......but they are 4.5" pipes

I agree with thedonz I have stainless marine gen 3s on my blower motors and not disappointed at all but if you need custom tailpipes made you will wait along time for them

yes I have the 4'' dry set up myself s/m and they are now 13yrs old. but he has the real short elbow it must of been a silent choice set up, now theres a 3'' welded pipe in between the rubber hose, I think he could buy new long elbow pipes this winter. art

I have seen the S/M offshores used on BB blower motors up to 700 hp., anything over that I have seen and used tubular headers or the S/M gen III's like already stated.

YES the 3s are good put he has the 2s art

My buddy has a 27 pachanga with the stainless marine gen 2s
blower motor about 550 hp has no problem, 900 hp probably not going to work best bet is to sell them and go gen 3s or a header imo

Will limit the hp some but better then sitting on shore.
