Setting points BBC

I was going to do a electronic ignition upgrade but decided for now to just do new points, 86 Baja with 400's

How do I set them up? I have done them in the past in a 20ft Sea Ray but never made sure they were perfect, I want this boat to run right, how do I set the dwell?? my dad has a old school dwell meter, just not sure what to look for.

Any info would help, thanks, Tim

With the cap off,set the contact point of the points on one of the lobes of the dist.make sure the plastic/fiber is directly on top of the lobe.adjust the point now to the desired gap.usualy the thickness of a match book cover is about the norm.
