454 mag carb ignition module????
I have what I believe is a thunderbolt ignition set up off a '95 454 mag, carbed motor - I am building a set of carbed 502's 600+HP over the winter, I would like to use the ignition's off my old motors but I'm not sure if there is a rev limiter (I need to turn above 5500 & also concerned about the timming curve on the old set up.
The module off the dist. has 454 mag & #'s 806745-6 if this means anything |
T bolt IV or T bolt V?

Pretty sure that is a TB V module.
If it looks like this link its a TB V. Part # 28 has a similar number to what you posted. http://www.mercruiserparts.com/Show_...CAL+COMPONENTS |
The module would be marked Tbolt IV if it were a 4.
Does it look like these? http://www.marinemechanic.com/site/page252.html If not it's a V. I think 95 was first year for Tbolt V. If so, it would have a knock sensor that controls advance. So the advance curve is variable. Not sure if a rev limiter was even on that motor. |

I'm pretty sure the rev limit is built into the module. I don't think it can be changed, but don't know for sure.

anyone else?

Do a search here in the tech section.
I recall some threads about changing the T bolt V module to a Crane unit that still uses the knock sensor. Also some about changing over to a T bolt IV module without the knock sensor. |
