MEFI 3 and Auto Xray

Has anyone tried to interface an auto xray scanner to a mefi 3? I know the software that is available to use a laptop, but I was just wondering. I use the auto xray to scan/monitor an LT1 in my car, it has the same basic wires - mode controller, data. Is this at all possible? Would it smoke my MEFI 3 somehow, or just plain not work?

Dumb question, or never attempted?

Mine is an older unit than this one; it is strictly OBD1. You can program just about any GM engine into it provided it was made before obd2/ 1996 or so. IIRC, I remember reading the mefi3 was not to far removed from the Chevy citation? (YUCK!)

The protocol is very similar, a data pin, and a mode controller pin. Just do not know if I can damage a MEFI 3 by hooking it up. My guess is no, it only uses a 9 volt battery for a power source. I would have to guess on the engine character to enter (a certain (10th ??) )digit of the vin that identifies the engine for the scanner.

O.K. Now I understand. I think I have a similar item that is made specifically for marine applications. See link.
