I changed my stock MPI distributor to a MSD unit,then tried to start the engine. I fonnd that i had smoked 3 sensors. I did not disconnect the battery. Was not disconnecting the battery the cause,? or not and why did that happen.

You'd better check that wiring diagram again, and yes, instructions say to disconnect ground cable.
