Mechanical Fuel Pump 500 EFI?

I have a pair of 2002 model 500 EFI's and I fired them up on the hose this weekend and found that one of the mechanical fuel pumps that mounts to the sea water pump is leaking oil out the side. I always service the pump with freash oil and a new gasket between it and the water pump every year but it is not leaking at that gasket between them but out the side of the pump.

I need to replace it and was wondering if a standard pump from a local auto store was the same.

If so does anyone have a part number to reference?

Thanks

Dock,
I think the Merc number you are looking for is 842429a01

Thanks Bobby,

That looks like the Merc number I found online but I did not know if a standard auto fuel pump would cross over with this one.

The auto fuel pump will not have a nipple installed for the overflow tube. If the diaphragm fails it will dump fuel in the bilge.

Check out KEith Eickert. He has a bullet proof pump that is much better than the Mercury one. Also the pump arm is differant than any automotive style pump.
