Camming a 598' for endurance and torque
Would a hyd roller or a solid roller get me closer to 500 to 600 hours of service life if adjusted at normal intervals? I plan on running at a max of 5500 rpms and making big torque, I am not trying to get 800hp out of this, maybe 650 to 700hp

You will still need to probably replace the valve springs every 150hrs due to the high lift it will need to work well with 598ci.

Not sure how many hours you'd get out those engine(s), but 650-700hp out of a NA 598cid shouldn't be too difficult. Lots of factors determine the endurance/longevity of and engine, but one thing that will help is a cam with a profile that is easy on the valve train and install a shaftmount roller rocker arm system vs a stud mount---and use really high quality valve springs. The valve train is a Big Block's weakest link. You can install a shelf cam if you want or for only about $70 or so more, RMBuilder/Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics will get you a cam that is tailor fitted to your engine's specs/application. Have Fun.
