Valve springs (&lifters) for moderate tune-up

I'm replacing the valve springs and inspecting the lifters in my Innovation 600's over the winter (300 hours). They are recommending Isky 8005A springs (130# seat pressure; 400 #/in rate), but I have heard good things about PSI valve springs as well. If I've gone this far with the Isky's (8 years), is there a point to stepping up to PSI's, or is that overkill? Oops. - Make that 8005-SP springs, 150 # seat pressure; 415 #/in rate; higher quality wire.

Not sure what spec the lifters (hydraulic rollers) are, but suspect that they are Crane. Any preferences on those if they need to be replaced, and what should I be looking for when I inspect them?

Thanks!

C-Spray,
Robert Mishko who was with Innovation for 17 years is now in TN about 40 miles from my house. He is "semi" retired but I can check with him if it is okay to give his number out and if it is I can PM it to you.

Chuck,

There are three levels of “8005” spring offered by Isky in this series. They all are 1.530” OD / 1.110” ID and fit with no adjustment.

8005-A Standard chrome silicon
135# @ 1.875
395# @ 1.225
400# rate
1.160” stack

8005-SP offers an upgraded outer spring from the above
150# @ 1.875”
435# @ 1.225”
415# Rate
1.160 Stack

8005 Plus offers a PSI/Tool Room outer spring std.
140# @ 1.875”
400# @ 1.275”
420# Rate
1.160” Stack

I have used the 8005 Plus springs and they offer significantly increased cycle value and show very little sag on run in.

Unfortunately the PSI line (being targeted to primarily race applications) offers limited #’s in the O.D., rate, and height required for Hyd-Rollers. There are a few that can be made to work, however with the lift you are utilizing there will be a large area of open coil at full compression.

Smiklos,

Take a walk over to PAC Racing Springs, booth # 4139/4141/4143 at PRI and ask for Chris Osborn. They are really on their game in spring development, particularly the conical. Should save some shoe leather.
