alternator amp for msd
What amp should your alternater be when running a msd on a single engine application......I ask because my housing on my alternator was cracked and i think it was giving a weak charge to the batteries and in turn not firing my msd properly......If ya have had similar problems post your expierince please..........65amp is what a aftermarket marine alternator is and i dont think that is enough....

They recommend hooking the MSD hot wire to the bat. Mine is hooked to the starter,Stock 500efi alt,a 55 or 65 amp.It also has a aftermarket fuel pump drawing on it. no probs

Thanks rob.............need some quality vids in the uncensored if ya got time..............lol

I don't think that the MSD is drawing any were near 65 amps. They should have that in a spec however. Your wire does need to go to a QUALITY supply with the correct guage wire. Are you having trouble starting or just running in general?

Its my mid range and wide open throttle.....It is hard to tell bringing the boat up on plane whether or not it is effected.....I might be splitting hairs here but once ya really get in tune with your motor you sense everything....
