Trim pins are different.

Std. has screw in trim pins and usually have trim elec. trim sensors that bolt on to the ring. HP tramsom assy. has solid pins that are held in place with small screws. The pins don't screw into the bell housing like on the std. transom assy., they have bushings in the bell instead.

Thanks so much for the info looking to buy a new one or used one. Just wondering if you are a member New Jersey Performance Power Boat Club .

I just went through this trying to decide which way to go with an HP transom. My original one was not an HP. Replacing the entire assembly is expensive. The best price I was able to find from a reputable seller was $3600. I opted to tear mine apart and rebuild it with Imco parts. I got a new ring and helmet from Imco. New shift cable, gimbal bearing and bellows from BAM. The job was real easy, no problems at all. The Imco parts fit like a glove. Now I believe I have a gimbal that is better than Mercs HP. All told, I spent less than $2k.

Isn't the gimble ring thicker also?

I wouldn't recommend trying this yourself....but in a pinch once I got a customer running for the weekend by modifying a standard bravo ring using an HP Bell....... We finished the job the following monday.

There's not a big difference between the two... The std. ring has bushings where the pin goes thru, the HP ring is solid without any bushings and the bushings are in the helmet. What I did was used an HP helmet and used the HP trim pins and drilled/tapped the ring to hold the pins in...:hitfan:

Yes, I was at the dinner with my wife. Although, I wasn't able to run my boat in the poker run itself because we were going to another poker run the following AM.

Thanks for the compliment! I'll see you out there next year! :ernaehrung004:
