Fuel tanks

I'm having a gas tank made. What are your preferences for the location of the the vent, fill, and sending units. The tank will not sit level when the boat is in the water so obviously the vent needs to be installed forward. And yes I know they need to be on the top.

I had a custom tank built earlier this summer. So the first thing that I would tell you is have it built by a manufacturer, yes it will cost more but it will be certified. So then if it leaks you have someone to blame and also the Coast Guard can't say it's not marine.

Post more details and I can share my knowledge I have gained this summer. Good Luck

It is being built by a fabricator that certifies his tanks, I'm not doing it myself. It's a belly tank. Need to know about placement of sending unit for best accuracy and best place to have the fill installed, forward or aft.

The fill has to be forward as well as the vent. If not the tank won't fill all the way, at least not very easily, and the air won't escape. This assuming that the front of the tank will be higher when the boat is at rest. Every boat I have had has the sender location near the rear of the tank.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Your tank builder already knows where those fittings should go. Just provide him with as much info about the application as possible. Good Luck.
