Thanks for the advice lowfunds. I did pull the transom inserts and they look fine. I even put some high pressure water through it and it came out of the drive very good.

CustomRigger, I am thinking of repower because the blocks have a substantial amout of rust an corrosion on the lower parts of it. I can't really tell how exstensive it is until we pull the engines. Then there's always the dillema of wanting more HP ya know?:D

Thank guys.

Can anyone give me a ballpark figure of what it would cost to get our 500's up to 509's and put bigger cams in them? Mark @ Precision must be super busy cause I can never get him by phone......anyone know dollarwise?

About 12 to 15k for both with good parts.

Surely you could get them done for under $10k. I did mine for under $3000 but i reused my rods and lifters.

If he reuses everything then yes he could do it for 3k.

Machine work, new bearings, pistons, rings, rod bolts, oil pump, and turning the crank is going to run around 2k per engine.

with almost 600hrs im sure it needs the heads worked, new intake, and all the other little things. Then the problems is that he is going to want more power:D

Yeah... more power! I'm on ebay looking at the Pro Comp aluminum BBc heads as we speak.

CAPTAIN CHUCK 01-09-2008 04:18 PM

525 EFI cam is a good choice. Its a Crane 741 on a 114 lobe sep.
