Hatch relay

Anybody tried using the Eddie marine relay box thats supposed to speed up the opener?

Does it work?

It should if its the electric screw type and not the Bennet hydraulic type. Found this out after I bought it sooo, If you need one I got one for you.

If you do a search on the Powerquest forum on this topic you will find a ton of information.

I used a diagram I found here to make my own (did it for ~$25.00 total).

Easy as wiring up two Bosch relays, hatch goes up over twice the speed and doesn't sound like it could take a dump at any minute.

To answer your question.....yes it works with a screw type..I have one and it works great.:cool-smiley-027:

Yes I have used one, and it worked fine.

If I had to do it over again I would have ran all new wires from the switch back to the hatch motor.

The first thing I did was buy a new hatch motor and it had the same results as the old one. I ended up selling it on Ebay for a loss.

I took mine off and took it to a motor rebuilding shop. They claimed there wasn't anything wrong with it (they were correct).

I go this from Summit Racing for $8.95....

I included the price of the other wiring (~6 feet of #8 to the actuator/battery), 30 Amp fuse holder, and a weatherproof box to hold it all in my $35.00 (actually, may have been a few bucks more)

If I had seem that kit from Summit I would have went that way, seeing as mine has two separate harnesses....

The problems with hatch lifters is that power from the dash is coming thru 14ga wire. The wire is not heavy enough to handle the amperage load. Using relays or merc solenoids pulling power directly from the battery switch or battery with a 30 amp fuse. This will eliminate any probles you have. But you have to rember that the dash switch is wired to reverse postive & negitive. And yes JPDiesel is correct on the set-up that he posted. Good Luck
