Bravo Drive Service Question

What parts should be installed in a regular winter service standard Bravo drive service? What should the parts and labor cost?

parts? if it aint broke why fix? I just change the drive lube.....2.5 qrts. merc HP lube, and two of those little blue washers.

Yes, whatever the "by the book" service is. Nothing broken, just maintenance. If you have a Mercury dealer complete a service, what should it cost for parts and labor?

tblrklakemo 01-17-2008 09:57 AM

Well, the two blue gaskets are like .75 cents a piece and merc hp gear lube is $9 and some change x 3(it should only take 2.5)....im not sure about the labor b/c i do it in my driveway. Its way too easy to pay somebody else anything more than a beer to do. I did make one of those garden sprayer fill bottles.

I have paid for it done on my last boat and that is all they do. Sorry i cannot remember the price for labor. You getting a real high bill?

$30-40 hr labor?

Young Performance 01-17-2008 10:22 AM

Should only be a half hour of labor plus about $30 for the oil for a single. At 65.00/hr that would be 32.50 plus 30 for the oil for a total of $62.50.

Also, grease coupler and gimbal bearing.

Labor is $100 per hour in San Diego.

Also a good time to check your sacrificial anodes.
Magnesium for fresh water, Zinc for salt, Aluminum for brackish. Also look at your plastic gimbal ring wear pads.

ActiveFun 01-20-2008 11:07 AM

Those plastic wear pads are very important.

Doesn't a standard drive service include pulling it to grease the u-joints, inspecting bellows and checking engine alignment in addition to the normal gear lube change, or does that fall under extra service?

If you are going to do it, do it. :)

All the service marina's by me on Lake St.Clair include the above as part of the drive service. I have been doing my own at home.
