Popped Freeze plugs.

Milky Oil.

I had previously kept my boat in heated storage - this year I drug it home from the shop so I could work on it over the winter.

I waited too late to winterize and I had 3 block plugs blown, one partially out and a Manifold plug out.

Tried to turn it over to add antifreeze and it bearly churns while draining batteries / jump box quickly.

Have a heater on it now trying to loosen it up.

Checked the oil - nice and milky.

I assume that the block is cracked - any hope?

One more note:

When I bought this boat back from the guy I sold it to (3 years ago) I immediately changed the oil and it had a little water in it then. It ran fine that season.

Most likly cracked the block...tough luck

They usually crack in the lifter valley

I've frozen several motors. Had good luck and bad.

Good- Popped a hose on my BMW. Figure it wouldn't get too cold so I filled it with water and planned on taking care of it that weekend- I was wrong. Popped two freeze plugs. Replaced them and everything was fine.

Bad- same sort of story, only on a Chevy van (I learned slowly in my youth) This time, both sides of the block were completely broken out.

First wasn't as hard a freeze as the second.

You can get water in the oil from condensation. It would take a long time for it to accumulate two quarts of condensation...

P.S. make sure to have the exhaust pressure checked. If you either got lucky or have to replace, you don't want to get it together and ruin it by dumping water into the cylinders from a bad manifold.

big blocks usually crack on the inside. not good news. on the on the other hand the oil got milky most likely while the engine was running, not sitting, as it has to mix somehow. you probably had some sort of water problem before anyhow.

That's kind of what I was thinking myself.

BTW, the manifolds look to have rusty hairlines cracks as well.....

This is a 454 in a SRV20. Has 300lb of ballast in the front to plane out - if it's shot I may go back with something smaller and lose the ballast.

Bought a boat with popped frost plugs, I knew from the past that it was going to be cracked on the inside but you always hope for the best.......wrong!!!!
