Anyone know the difference between 8.8 m and a Fever 27
I was looking at a 1987 8.8 meter Fountain 29 , And also a 1990 Fever 27 I know the 27 is longer than 27 cause the swim deck...Both have twin 454's.
Does anyone know the difference if any in these 2 boats?Any help would be greatly apreciated..Chad |
Chad, The 8 Meter is a 29 without a molded platform. The were only built for a short time. The 27 has a platform and measures 29.. They eventually stopped building them with twins.

Thank you for the Reply . I fugure I have to have the molded platform to keep the noise down in the boat.I did not have a pic of the rear of the 8 meter.
Is a fountain 29 ( spitfire, fever ) bigger than a 27 fever? Sorry about the dumb questions . Just new to Fountain land. Thank you , Chad |
It all depends on the year. They could be the same.
If the platform is bolted on, it is not counted in the length. If it is molded into the hull, then its included in the length. That is the general rule for all boats. |
The 8.8 is a 32 without a swim platform. I'll post pics tomorrow, but when they are parked with beaks even, the 8.8 looks ev en with the 32. The 27 is shorter than the 8.8 but depending on he year, is the same as a newer 29.
FYI I have a 8.8. The Spifire was a red gellcoat trim package. |
Own an 8.8
I have an 88 Red 8.8 that the actual hull measures 30' 6" from the transom rub rail to the bow rubrail. It does compare to the 32, I added an aluminum swim platform so I call it a 33 cause that is what it measures. Biggest worry is that both hulls need to be dry and rot free, have both hulls checked for moisture, and get GOOD survey done on both.
Is the 1990 hull equipped with Bravo's? The older TRS drives, while durable (in my opinion) are slower as they are SOOO deep in the water, and can be much more expensive to fix than bravo's. |
10 meters is 33 feet no swim platform.
