Need some clarifcation

I just purchased this new setup, my question is which one is the intake from the water pickup. My guess was the top intake, due to the rotation i would assume it picks it up on top and dumps on the bottom.

thanks for the help

This is a standard Mercruiser pump so i guess they thought i would know. I could call em, but i wanted to see what others thought.

The stern dives are left hand motors. The pump can be positioned so in is up or down. You should be able to figure it out. Motor turns left when looking from back.. It looks like
out is the bottom in the picture.

Assuming standard (LH) rotation, the intake would be on the top in that picture. The back of the pump usually is marked with LH and RH outlet.

It is marked on the back of the plastic one piece body. The first picture shows the 2 piece body with threaded fittings. The port to the right is the out port on a left hand motor. When viewing from Dave Ns picture above.

Dave N picture does speak a thousand words.

hook a hose to it, put it in a bucket, run it with a drill, better safe than sorry.

Tops of pump is generelyr intakes unless its a right hand. 99.9 % of merc pumps are all the same for water intakes..

If the picture in Dave N #5 doesn't help you. Throw your tools away.
