Any thoughts on how this boat would handle and how fast it would with a repower to carbed gen VI 420 H.P. 502s and bravos ? Will the X dimension end up too deep with the bravos w/out shortys ? I stuffed my 26 Nova into a lock door at 35 MPH end of last summer and Im not going to fix it so Im looking for another hull boat is listed at around 4500 LBS anyopne know the deadrise on these (its a 1978 IMP 250 )Attachment 323009

That boat is not made to have that much power. It will most likely explode the drives. What kind of drives are those???? They aren't Bravo's. That is like putting 500hp into a geo metro.

Nice

I know a fellow that had one of those a few years back. It ran OK with a set of built up 260/350 Alphas making like 320HP each. His boat was a lot more than 4500lbs though and topped out around 65. I don't think you want to put Big Blocks in it.

wouldnt want to big block it meaning............. ? any idea what your buddys boat weighed ? the other hull Im looking at is a 242 LS formula (unless anyone knows of a SMALLER twin hull I can stuff these 502s in !!)

look for a Formula 272 you will be much happier and they did come with Big blocks so the 502s will fit easily. The 242 was really stern heavy with the twin small blocks.

272's are nice boats but from what I have seen they have alot of hook in the hull. I think they only run in the upper 60's with big blocks and around 60 with small blocks.

I think Johns boat was all of 5500 maybe 6000lbs.
The engine bay would be real tight with Big Blocks and you may make the boat stern heavy.
If your looking for a project, How about an older 28Cig or Magnum?

Here's a hull for you and it's close too. Location says Toledo.
