Is trere some way I can convert a low water pickup on a bravo 1 to a different system. I boat alot in water that averages 4 ft. Any suggestions?

Had to same proplem, spoke with merc and I was told I could drill out the case Like the older bravos, done that and have had no problem since, also did it to friends boat and he has had no proplems,The only thing Merc Rep told me to do is,drill 4 holes on each side instead of 8 as the older bravos have,I will try to post a picture tonight when I get home.

Depending on how much water you want to not get in from the lower ports, you could close a couple of them up and add more holes to the side pick up. And depending on drive height, you could adjust the number of holes so you dont suck air at speed. As boatnt shows above there should be grooves in the forward part of the hole to funnel water into them..
I was going to do just this modification, but someone needed a LWP and I sold the case.
Another thought is to put a nose cone on it.. and close up the lower pick ups and drill the holes in the side. Just match up the holes drilled with what is normal on the side pickup lower. I plugged the two top holes because of my drive height, and dont have any cooling problems..

Hope this helps..
Dick

Did you have to pull off the lower unit to do this?
