Getting ready to put my new 540s in the boat. No intakes yet N/A. Has any one run 2x4s on their motors instead of a single 4 barrel.If so any gains by doing this.Or is it just a waste of money. Thanks JOHN

Tunnel rams make great power.

Not really much good in it unless you use the tunnel rams. The low rise intakes won't give you the extra flow that you will need.

A weiand team G and a single Dominator will do fine in that app. if you dont have room under the hatch for the rams.

Depending on how big a cam you are running, you can use an 800 cfm 4150 flange holley and an edelbrock 454-R victor Jr intake and make good power and use a little less fuel. Won't rob that many HP compared to the dominator.

If you can aford the fuel and if it will fit under the hatch, the tunnel rams are the way to go to squeeze the most HP out of the engine.

I have a half a dozen older boats running tunnel rams. Make great power and with good carbs such as a BG mighty Demon, idles nice with out loading up. I will look into something for you John ......I have an idea!:D

A Tunnel Ram can work extremely well on an engine like this. Zul used to offer a combination like this in the past, and it ran extremely well.

Hi Dean! Was just out here on the board askin the question we had talked about.I though a little input from the members would help me out as far as the carbs. Just in cse you don't go with the rams, I have 2 TeamG's 2 1150 Dominators from Nickerson (recomend to send them back and get them refreshed) and 2 stainless flame arrestors if you are interested. I was going to use them on another project, but have gone with blowers instead.

Tunnel rams are the best though.

Would the tunnel ram have any effect on throttle response? I understand the basic principle is to have a nice straight non-turbulent flow hitting the intake valve but the additional runner length cause a lag? Also, what about over-carburetion? Is there an offset due to the fact that you're getting better flow or is CFF just CFM, regardless of manifold design or number of carburetors?
