What is the STRONGEST,LIGHTEST, SMALLEST,1X1.5 inline Transmission? ?

I want to connect a BBC to an Arneson 6. And where would I get this Trans.? ? CHEERS AW

The only inline I have used on the 6 is a BAM. You can get a wet sump or dry sump rated for 1350 ft lbs. The wet sump is smaller since it does not have the oil pan on the bottom.

Are you using an Ext. box or moving the engine forward ?
2 different coupling system's required.I just finished this same conversion last fall.

Bams are the best transmissions but still break under big hp. SCS crashboxes are the lightest, strongest and a real pain to shift. They are almost impossible to break.

Well you are not very helpful in helping yourself. You did not mention what style of drive you have or reference the reduction ratio in the post.

Let's see, you mentioned in the subject line "1 X 1.5 in line transmission"

I think you probably meant you need a transmission with a 1.5:1 reduction ratio for an in line Arneson?

If this is what you are in need of, then you need to look at the following:

Twin Disc 5050A
ZF/Hurth 63A
Velvet Drive 5000A

Each of these are designed to have a drop and a reduction ratio in them. A standard Velvet drive does not have a reduction ratio so they would be a 1:1 ratio which will not work well.

Each of these transmissions have a hp rating of around 500 hp max.

RIK I have a #6 that bolts to the transom and at this point has the motor in backwards hooked to a velvet drive 72C V-drive @ 1 to 1.5 ratio and that is conected to the "6" with a driveshaft under the motor. I want to re-rig the set up with the motor in frontwards and down lower into the V of the hull with a short;strong;light Transmission as possible maintaining the 1 to 1.5 gear. What do you suggest that could take up to 700 HP and TQ. This is a 26 ' single engine set up.

CG wise what you have is a great setup.

Problem with turning the engine around is a transmission.

The only alternative is to use a Casale Z box with a regular velvet drive but your engine is going to move way forward.

Is "Huber" still building 'em for big power - he's been around the longest. I've got to have my huber rebuilt - lost pump pressure after 10 or so years - lost his number.

KE has a new design that was at the Miami show.

It's long, it's not a 1.5:1 final, it's not a down angle and it's not proven.

He needs something that will connect and give him a 1.5:1 final. I think the powerglides are 2:1-1:1. A big jump and not good for his final and his engine will have to be in the rear seats due to the installed length.
