Prop upgrade
I have a 1999-28 ft. EZ Checkmate with a single 502/415 HP engine that is coupled to a Bravo 1, 1.5 drive.
According to my calculations the slippage is about 17%. I am running a Bravo 1, 22* cupped prop. I am in the process of installing a new set of Dart 308 heads, high lift cam and tubular exhaust system. With all these upgrades it should bring me up to around 500 HP. My question is what prop should I be looking for? All input would be appreciated. Thanks |
With an extra 85hp, one size up is about all you should need. Go with the Bravo 24, and if it needs tweeked, one of the prop guru's can lab it for you.

You may even still be able to run the same prop. You will most likely want to run the WOT rpm for the upgraded engine about 400-500 rpms higher, than the stock 5050rpms of the 502mpi. test what you've got and go from there. Most likely you will have to go to a labbed 24"
