Smartcraft Or Floscan
 

I have a 2004 Formula 382 with t/525 efi. What fuel monitoring system do you think is better. Floscan with one gauge or a smart craft with two lcd engine monitor gauge. Witch do you think would be more accurate.

I've had flosacan on mine at the end of last year.... did not have time really to compare reading to real life fuel consumption, but like the kit, it was easy to install, and they offered great support when ordering it.

In your situation with Smartcraft capable Mercs, I would go Smartcraft period.

plug and play. ultimate accuracy.

I have no experience from FloScan but SmartCraft will 'only' give you fuel flow calculated from injector timing and rpm, not measured fuel flow.

Recently interviewred for a position with a Flowscan competitor and was informed sensor(Flowscan) is private labeled for Merc. all Merc does is integrate electronics in there SmartCraft package, So as far as accuracy is concerned, no differance since the sensor is the determaning factor.

I had a cruisemaster for my old boat. It was VERY accurate, but that was twin 6 cyl boat. I was under the impression that High HP/ fuel flow flowmeters were not available. What model Flowscan are you using?

There is no sensor in Smartcraft, as Alex says the fuel consumption is calculated by the ECU. Any turbine or paddle wheel sensor is subject to flow disturbances and in most cases needs to be calibrated for each installation. I think Smartcraft is a better bet assuming you have a compatable engine.

A paddle wheeltype flow meter won't work very well with an EFI system. It can't compensate for the return line.
