454 to 509 fuel line
hey guys
i just did that engine swap in my 88 sport 226,built a 509,dynoed at 612 hp,it is ready to rock in the boat just have to put the outdrive back on(bravo one) and engine hatch(sunpad) and fire it up,i also am running the 3/8 fuel line and should have no problems, also i install a n auto meter oil temp gauge to keep an eye on things since i reused my stock oil cooler, also installed an auto meter tachometer for some more accurate rpm readings, should be fun. |
hay ak sounds like a good setup that boat will fly if had wings. what prop are you going to run???
|
454 to 509
hey baja bob
ya i think it will fly,for sure a cool toy,it worked great with the stock 330hp,but i love to have ballzy toys,so i had to change some things, goes along with the other toys.anyways i am going to put my 24pt bravo one prop on it for the first go but i am thinking i will need a 27-30 pt prop when i see how it works, motor is built overkilled so i think it will be pretty tough,it looks awesome also but can not figure out how to post pics. |
ak there a guy on teambajamarine site has your boat with same power he runnig 28 pt bravo. 85mph. and he not dial in yet.your boat will be fun racings good luck

In my 89 Baja force I went thru the fuel line upgrade thing.
I ended up drilling both holes(one for a return line) and taping them. You probably have a hole with a plug in it next to the pick up one. |
Oil Coler
HAY AK
just a note i lost the entire season last year motor went south rebuilt and used the old cooler and sure enough dirt in the crank and it was all over. after that every one i spoke with said never use a old oil cooler over. Rich |
454 to 509
hey richard
what do you mean dirt in the crank?how did dirt get in the crank?all my buddies have used their factory cooler with no probs but if anyone will have a problem i hope it is not me,i have spend a lot of money since oct on this,i do have another cooler but it is huge and i wanted to try this one first. |
rich is rigth i got new oil cooler for mine they say you can t get them clean . for$200 i will not worry about it. money well spent:ernaehrung004:

AK
The front rod bearnig recieved dirty oil from the dirty oil coiler and wiped out the rod bearing and of course the already turned crank. maybe my oil coller was dirty from the first time when all the mains went but i still would go for a new biger one i replaced that one with a larger one than the stock one. and by the way i have the old engine all fresh with new crank and large oil coller with a big deamon carb and pump, alt, starter, efi ready to plug in if anybody is interested. gen 6 454 with rollers. new cast ex stock.
