are drive showers worth it on a boat that will never see over 70mph?

The big stainless IMCOs sure look cool!

I would have the same question but for boats that will see over 70 mph.

Your drive will benefit from the shower by lowering the operating temps. Your boat may not exceed 70 mph but your drive may be working as hard as it can to push you to whatever speed your seeing

It's the load on the drive that blows them, not the speed directly. As to who makes the best drive shower, there's a a reasonable debate on which one really works best. I'm currently using the Simreks and find they dispense more water ragardless of speed or trim angle over the other current external designs. Probably the most efficient is the B max drive system which uses the drive intake water to internally cool the drive.

In most every drive blow up however, it wasn't the lack of a drive shower, but the heavy throttle that caused the mayhem. The shower didn't get the first drop on the drive before it was too late :( Over time is where the cooler running temps. will perform their "insurance" and keep the outdrive alive.

Pretty cheap insurance and logical. I use them. It doesnt mean you wont blow up a drive but it cant hurt and probably does help.

Absolutely worth it. The cheapest insurance you can get.
