Touching up Engine Paint
I'm in the middle of upgrading my exhaust manifolds. Parts of the block and heads are rusty and I wanted to touch them up. I dont wanna spray because I'm not gonna do the whole block and masking everything off would be a pain. It'll be behind the manifolds so it wont be seen and doesnt have to look perfect, just help keep rust down. Any paint suggestions?

find a ''farm and fleet or thiesens'' store and get a small can of tractor/impliment paint and a small brush to bsush it on

It'll stand up to the heat alright?

The only area of the engine that should get hot enough to discolor the paint is around the exhaust ports. And even there it barely does anything to the paint.
You dont need high heat paint. if you do, you'll probably need a new engine! If you'd like pricing on manifolds, let me know which brands you are interested in. Have very nice deals on CMI Headers, Dana Manifolds, Revolution Marine Manifolds, and severla others. Email us at [email protected] Kirk |
Little Rustoleum and a small brush should work ok, if you feel you need the high temp just spray some engine enamel into a small cup and use the brush, either should do the trick, done it both ways myself.

The areas I'm touching up are right around the exhaust ports on the heads. So I think I'll just use some high temp paint from a can and spray it in a cup as suggested. That was my idea before I just didnt know if you could get it in a Qt or pint rather than a spray can. thanks
