Holley Blue pump

Will this pump support dual 4's Making abetween 700-750hp. I have a brand new Holley Blue pump and not real sure that it will support the H.P. Don't have an issue with buying a new one but I hate to set it on the shelf if it will work with no problems.

Young Performance 04-15-2008 12:00 AM

Yes it will work. Just use a regulator.

BLOWN85 04-15-2008 11:23 AM

Do you think I will be on the edge with this pump? It says that it will flow 90gph @ 7psi. Fee flows 120gph.

Dont waste your engine on a pump that might work. I am building two 800hp engines and am going to use a mechanical "Race Pumps" brand pump that puts out 400gph. I can get them for $285

Young Performance 04-16-2008 12:15 AM

The Holley blue is more than enough pump for your power. It will support almost 900 hp. I have never had any luck with them lasting. I use the Aeromortive street rod pump instead. About the same size, but a little more money. If you have it, use it. It will be more than enough.
Eddie.

it will work, just be carefull of the rest of the fuel delivery system, anti-siph. if equiped, factory fuel/water separator, fuel line size....these can bite you...Rob

I would run a CV mechanical 130 gph pump or Holley mechanical 130 pump. Both pumps have larger inlet and outlet fitting sizes, so there is no restriction in fuel flow. I have used many of these in tunnel ram applications and it works well. They are preset at 7-9 psi and usually run @ 7-8 psi. They will be far more reliable than the Holley Blue which is really designed for street car stuff.

Young Performance 04-16-2008 11:53 AM

That's been the problem that I have run into Dean. They just don't last. That is why I went to the Aeromotive. I think he has it already. Might as well run it. When it craps out, get something else. Like EZ said, make sure the rest of the fuel system is up to the task.
Eddie.

Whatelse do you guys do to the fuel system? Do you run a larger dia. line from the tank? I don't think I am going to take any chances on the the Holley pump. Hate to be out on the lake and my fuel pump take a crap!

This is what I use my blue pump for:ernaehrung004:38 gallons in about 1 1/2 beers.

when it burns up I have a spare BG280 pump off the race cars:DIts been sitting in the car trailer for 3 or 4 years, might as well.

Eddie I wonder if its because its dead heading at the regulator,if it was on a bypass I bet it might last longer?

PatriYacht 04-23-2008 09:26 AM

I have had good luck with Mallory Comp 140 pumps on 700 hp engines. They have been dead headed and still last for years. Not too expensive and they come in a marine approved version.

Strip Poker 388 04-24-2008 12:25 PM

PatriYacht I also ran a 140, motor plus NOS was 750hp,never had a prob:D

what about the holley black pump?

c.v products mechanical fuel pump absolutely rules. large inlet, interchangable pressure springs, internally bypassed, billet, degreeable.
for electric nothing beats the mallory. except for a weldon.
as mentioned everything else should be in accordance. and mostimportantly is a rutrn style regulator installed after the fuel rail.

Jb-fse 04-25-2008 03:32 PM

Your 700 Hp Engine Will Require .98 Gpm Or 58.8 Gph
You Can Dead Head The Holley Blue,it Has A Built In Relief Valve. Caution Do Not Do This To Long The Pump Does Not Like This.

Strip Poker 388 04-25-2008 03:47 PM

I was told that the engine requirment of fuel is related to rpm also.

BenPerfected 04-25-2008 07:59 PM

I also use the CV Products mechanical pump. With the light "blue" spring you can run 750 HP safely at 5.5-6 lbs pressure @ WOT with no need for a regulator. At idle you have about 8-8.5 lbs. All accomplished with 3/8" lines...Dean don't start on my stock lines!

monstaaa 04-25-2008 08:46 PM

kids rule

lakepop 04-25-2008 09:01 PM

i noticed the pump is mounted above the tank level, they are not disigned to suck only push . This will cause the pump to cavate generating heat, magnets will come unglued causing failure.
