Thinking of Stroking
I currently have 510 cu.in tall block motors in the boat they make 520 or so H.P. I just pulled the motors out and am thinking of stoking them. Unfortunatly I have TRS drives so I don't want to destroy them everytime I take it out with killer power. I was thinking either going to 540's or 572 cu.in. I don't want high compression only 8.5 to 1, so I thought stroking them would be my best bet.
540cu.in. what kind of h.p.? 572cu.in. what kind of h.p.? and what cam would you go with. What's your input Thanks Mark:confused: |
Check300 is running a twin-turbo 572 making 1160 horsepower. KAAMA is running 540's making (I think) in the neighborhood of 690.

Hey puder, we're going to start the "Beavis and Butthead" sexual innuendo forum just for you!

I did the 540's aspirated on my cafe, with #3's. With 9.5 compression and cast merlin's, dyno at 603hp@5400 on 93 octane. With both tanks at 1/4, gps was 74mph. I have a friend who has a top gun with aspirated 572's. He's in the low 70's.

I would go with the 540's. A 572 in a low deck is expensive and not pratical for marine. Stay away from the cheepie cranks.
