1998 7.4 efi no start

I have a problem with a 7.4 efi, will not start, If fuel is introduced it will start and run fine, I have checked for codes Code 12 only, It obviously has plenty of spark. The fuel press is at 38psi KOEO, is there some sort of oil pressure safety on this set up? I am at a stand still. If it helps this combo is in a baja 322. I would appreciate any technical advise or acess to wiring schematics. Thanks in advance.

How are you introducing fuel? I will have access to CDS at work on thursday. Are the injectors firing? Is your laynard in the correct position?

Fuel is being misted through the throttle body, there appears to be 2 oil pressure senders, one on the rear in the usual location next to dist, and one on side of block which goes to the gauge. Which reminds me of some of the fuel pump controls on the earler chevys. This boat has no lanyards, only 2 toggle switches, I have not checked them, this is only a problem with one engine . Unable to acess actual injector plug for noid light check , I am going to backprobe injector harnedd as soon as I can acess schematic. You only have to initially add fuel, then system is fine. I am trying to help a friend with this boat so I know little about it other than Baja leaves room for nothing!

If the oil pressure switch on side of block has 2 wires going to it, jump them together and see what happens. Strange how you only have to add fuel initially, maybe oil pressure to low until start up to activate switch, if it has that style switch.

Dist. pickup sensor ?

If your getting spark, that means that the ECM is getting a ignition reference signal, so the injectors should be firing. Did you check the engine fuses?

Nitrousworx 04-24-2008 10:42 AM

all 3 fuses and relays tested good, 2 constant 12 and 1 with key on 12v I swapped modules and relays to other eng and they worked fine, anyone with wiring schematics avail., looking for inj color combos, or central gound locations. thanks to all responders, are colors the same as gm tpi? I have plenty of acess to those diagrams.

Are you sure that is enough fuel pressure?

Nitrousworx 04-24-2008 11:24 AM

not sure of manufacturer specs, yet it is the same as other motor KOEO, yet the other engine starts, it acts like the chevy vans that will do the exact same thing and is a fuel pump.

FYI..code 12 means KOEO. I can get wiring diagram tomarrow at work, do you have a fax machine? PM me with the serial number if you have it and your phone number.
