It saves me time, and money, along with giving an analysis of the oil, which in turn tells me if there is anything I should keep an eye on, such as maybe a head gasket, or whatnot.

Oil is cheap, even Redline compared to the motors or the 300 gallons of gas I'll burn in a weekend. More than anything I want all the crap from blowby out of the crankcase. I used to do oil analysis but that was with stock motors.

I did run a change with Mobil 1, found my oil temps climbed 15 degrees, went back to Redline and the temps came right back down.

That is because Mobil 1 isn't 100% synthetic. Its a "full synthetic" and there is a difference. It still has a lot of petroleum properties to it.

Appreciate the information/readings on ZDDP. If I use Mobil V-twin, how often do I need to change oil? Either in hours, or number of times during the season? Thanks.

I run VTwin and a Wix racing filter in a 502 in a light boat, I dont run it hard, and I change it once a season, so about 50-60 hours. It is always very clean and clear when I drain it. Drive oil I think I am going to drain every two seasons now. I did it every year for the past 5 years and it looks absolutely new without a spec on the magnet so I think every two years is enough. Mobil 1 75W-90 in the drive.

M-1 20W-50 V-twin has excellent ZDDP levels and plenty to spare as well...

The new "SM" oils may not.

As a rule of thumb a flat tappet engine needs around 2,000 ppm of zinc and 2,000 ppm of phosphorous.
