Trim Pump Hoses - Where?

I need to buy two new pair of hydraulic lines for my trim pumps to the outdrives that are longer then the ones that came with the boat.

Who makes or sells these?

Thanks

Kurt,

Thanks I'll give you a call.

I need two pair that are 96 Inches long each (8 feet) and the end that goes to the pump needs to be as tight/shory of a 90 degree as they can make.

Thanks
Mark

Kurt,

Nice to talk with you today and thanks for your effort to help.

Mike Mays at CP Performance was able to make them right up and I will have them in a couple of days.

Have fun on your trip.

Mark

Well still no luck.

I thought that Mike at CP Performance had me fixed up but the hoses came in with the wrong size fittings. They are smaller then the ones on my boat. He says I have something special and just need to adapt to it but there is not room for adapters in the small junction box under the outdrive.

I have called four hydraulic shops in North Carolina (three are parker)and two in South Carolina and they all tell me they haev the small ones but not the larger ones.

My Mercury guy tells me that what I have is standard since 1986 with Mercury and he cannot understand why the problems getting them either.

The fittings I have measure 7/16 of an inch diameter outside diameter on the threads and the ones Mike sent me which he calls standard measure 3/8 inch outside diameter.

Does anyone have any ideas?

This is about to drive me crazy and we have already relocated the pumps and I need two pair of hoses 8 feet long each.

Kirk,

Nice talking with you today. Here are some pictures showing the brass larger fitting that my setup requires and the smaller size that Mike sent me.

It is an 02 Model Mercury XR drive and of course these are the hoses that run from the trim pum through the transom assembly and fit into the distribution block on the bottom of the outdrive.

Let me know if you can help.

Thank you
Mark

Strange ... usually the smaller ones are hard to find ....m

Elite Marine 05-06-2008 08:37 PM

Mark -

I called you back at the number on my phone and they didnt know who you were...pretty good gig if they still cut you a check!!

I disassembled a trim block and you are correct. I think those are Merc hose ends only. I'm sure a hydraulics shop can make them. My source unfortunately has the same ends as you received from CP. I have a few calls into others to see what I can come up with.

I was told Fountain makes custom trim lines. Worth a try. I will let you know if I hear something tomorrow.

Mark ..... are the big ends only on the Drive end ? and then the short section passes thru the Transom Assembly ? I replaced mine from the short hose to the trim pumps ...just a coupling for the hose comming thru the Transom. Those were easy to get from Parker Hose ... ......m

I have the big fitting on both ends. There is no problem putting an adapter to reduce it on the pump itself which has already been done on the trim tab pump for the K planes. But on the other end where it goes though the transom there is not enough clearence for the adapter which adds length/height.

I spoke with a guy down in Mooresville yesterday that thinks he may be able to help me out. I plan to drive down there in about an hour and see what he can do.

If you have any other suggestions please let me know. The only other thing I can think of at this point is to buy another set of stock hoses just like the originals and couple them together for the length I need.

Thank you

Why doesn't CP make new lines that fit? Geeze....
Another thought is to get a Parker Store or another hose fabricator to use your existing fittings on new hoses.

CP says that what I have is NOT standard and it is not their fault and they cannot supply the larger size. The did offer to ship adapters at no charge but that will not help me on the drive side.

My Merc guy tells me that my size ends are standard and have been since 1986.

Overall I have always received good service from CP but this has really been a mess.

It's a problem, I tried to source the #4 inverted flare fittings years ago with no success. Of course there was barely an internet & no google back then. Parker & Aeroquip do not make them. There should be room for the 3/4 adapters, they barely add 1/2 to the length of the fitting.

Thanks for the reply Marc. I just ordered another $2500 from you guys today bringing my total this year to over $8K. I appreciate the service.

I'll try the adapters and hope they work. It sure looks too tight but maybe I'll get lucky.

I talked to Moreland Hose today and he aid he could cut my tube ends off and braze them to new hose and said the would hold up great. If the adapters don't work I will go that direction.

Thanks again

Those are very nice folks and did offer me an option. They can take my old fitting and cut the tube off and braze them to a new hose and he said they do it everyday and that it works and holds up very well.

Thank you for taking time to recommend them.

Mike at CP Performance came though with flying colors.

The hoses he originally supplied are on the boat with some adapters he found to make them work.

Thank you
