OH yeah..

Grand fo shizzle. Got a place by the s. bridge. It's red and white, so look for me!!

I don't have tabs on the boat yet. Do have a pair of dana's, trying to decide if I should use them. Wondering if it really, really helps control the walk before I go drillin the boat up!!

At least I'll have another member of the "short boat club" to hang with!:D

I would say the tabs would be worth it. I use mine at lower speeds to level her out. I actually have had no real problem with chine walk in my 24 since I went full hydraulic steering and replace the gimbal. We were prop testing last year, and I was able to trim beyond ideal with no looseness at all. We have a bigger prop to go with this year, so hopefully we'll get it nailed down!

I know it sounds funny, but i SWEAR it is walking worse, can barely get to 81 now without it starting!! I have heard of some eagles +90 range but they do have tabs, is this truly the key on this hull??

THANKS!!

No, never had an Eliminator. I had a 24 Outlaw then the 28 Pantera with the 525SC.

If it was surging, you would most definately hear and feel it. Mine would surge a little when the air was cool. If it was surging you would see the tach moving 50-100rpms up and down.

The 2mph gain is about right and figures in with a 25-30hp gain. You may have just crossed the line with the 2mph that gets it to start chine walking. Blower surge only happens at idle. It won't change WOT. Tabs would be a good thing

Try dropping one tab, it helps a little in the no wake.

Baddog is right, if you get tabs, drop both of them all the way when ideling. I do this with my boat and it tracks strieght .

I have the same proplem with my Scarab i think its pretty standard on single v-bottoms, but like Canada Jeff said, I just put the tabs all the way down when idleing and tracks straight.

sounds good

I'm gonna go ahead and check the steering. I have a dual hydro add on, but not the real deal. There does seem to be a little delay in the steering cable, and the effort is higher than it should be, i think. So i might just have a bad cable..

For the tabs, I think i will go ahead and try em, and go from there...

Thanks..

If you are going over 80, you DEFINITELY need to upgrade to the full hydraulic steering. Most of the parts you can get in town from Hydraquip in Tulsa. They cut and assembled all of my hoses for $40 cash on a Saturday morning. I had already bought the kit from Zeiger, but the guy at Hydraquip said he kept all of the hose and the Char-Lynn helm in stock. You'd still have to order the nice fittings. they have the fittings in stock, but not the corrosion resistant ones. Or you can just get the zeiger upgrade kit. I paid about $1100 for mine. It took less than a day for my wife and I to install it, and we had never done it before.

Yellow_ICC_OK 04-29-2008 05:24 PM

Hmm

So does this mean I pull out the merc ram on the inside of the transom, and then re-use my rams on the outside of the boat?

I'm guessing the cable goes bye bye, and the new helm is the valve basically? So the dual rams are the only thing actually steering the boat then, right?

:D

jayhawk261 04-29-2008 05:26 PM

That's correct. The big valve/ram that the cable connects to will be gone, the cable will be gone, and the piece under the dash will be gone. When done, the external cylinders steer the drive. It really cleans up the engine compartment too!
